I'm Kala. My sister Casey and I started Blessedly Southern as a side project, a way to make the stuff we actually wanted: shirts, cups, hats, keychains, with a little Southern and a whole lot of horse crazy mixed in. Mostly it was a creative outlet. I'd make things for friends, for people at the barn, and honestly, for my horse too.
Then I got a little obsessed with trucker hats. I wanted something fun to wear around that made people laugh, so I started making my own. Every hat is made to order here in Texas. I design the saying and sublimate it right into the hat, so it's part of the hat, not something sitting on top of it.
The lines came from the people around me. I know horses, so that one was easy. Casey and I both read a lot, so book hats came next. And one of my best friends skates for Third Coast Roller Derby in Alvin, so I started making hats for her team. They're a local, all-inclusive team, and $5 from every derby hat goes back to them.
Hats are where I'm starting, but keychains, stickers, and more are on the way. Down the road I'd love to set up at events. Until then, if you see me at a horse show in one of these hats, come say hi.
